GDC 2020 Officially Postponed

It’s been a long week for show organizers of the 2020‘s GDC, as many partners and companies have cancelled their plans to attend the event in San Francisco citing the Coronavirus as the main reason and wanting to protect employees from any possible danger. It seemed like each day brought a new announcement of a company cancelling their appearance. We at My Xbox And Me previously reported that Microsoft was one of the many companies who cancelled plans to attend the event.

As of today; GDC 2020 has been officially postponed. Announced on GDC’s official website, the event has stated that they will no longer be holding the event in March due to safety concerns.

The Statement reads, “After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March.”

The statement goes on to explain their regret on postponing the event, and plans to have the event take place in Summer of this year. Many outlets who were formerly planning to attend GDC have already made plans to host small streams of their various panels or presentations. Microsoft will still be streaming the panels they announced yesterday for example.

We’ll keep following GDC updates as they happen, so be sure to keep checking back at My Xbox And Me for more updates.
