Cyberpunk 2077 Gets Another Delay

This morning CD Projekt Red announced that the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 will receive another delay, being the third delay the game has seen this year. The game was originally set to launch as early as April 16th of this year, but was pushed heavily back to September 17th as a result of the ongoing Corona Virus Pandemic. The game was delayed a second time to iron our core bug issues the development team found, pushing the game to November 19th. This recent delay pushed the game even further back, now set to launch across all current generation platforms on December 10th.

CD Projekt Red attributed the delay to development across multi-generational devices. Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, along with PC and Google Stadia this fall, with an enhanced next generation version of the game coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 sometime in 2021. Fans have speculated that because the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of the game are not set to launch until sometime next year, the Stadia version of the game is the true reason for the delay. CD Projekt Red however, claries in their statement, which can be read below) that the game's performance across all platforms, including the different SKUs for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is a priority to them, and wants to make every version of game runs as optimized as possible.

The game being pushed back an additional 21 days comes as a shock to fans eagerly anticipating the game's release, mostly considering that CD Projekt Red had been adamant on twitter about the game not receiving another delay as of yesterday. On top of the recent announcement that the game has gone gold, meaning a version of the game is being printed on disc and is in production. Obviously the game will receive a day one patch, but the game on disc will be vastly different from the game after the patch if the comments from the statement CD Projekt Red release are to be believed.

Cyberpunk 2077 now released on December 10th 2020, and will receive a free upgrade to next generation platforms sometime in 2021, but for more on Cyberpunk 2077 be sure to check out My Xbox And Me.
