MLB The Show 21 launches on Xbox Platforms on April 20th 2021
The longtime PlayStation exclusive series, MLB The Show will launch on Xbox Platforms for the first time in gaming history on April 20th 2021, the same day it launches on PlayStation Platforms.
Back on December 9th, 2019, it was announced that MLB The Show will become a multi-platform series, as a direct result from a business deal between Sony and The MLB in regards to their continued partnership over the video game license. Sony will retain the exclusive rights to the MLB license, but the MLB had requested that the series end it's PlayStation Exclusivity. Sony San Diego, long-time developers for the series, will continue it's work on the series and will be the first first party sony developer to develop games for the Xbox Platform.
It is not unusual to see first-party developed games on their rival console, as Microsoft had had a history of publishing it's first party titles on PlayStation systems, as in the case of Minecraft Dungeons. Microsoft also acquired various developers and continued to publish their games on PlayStation systems, such as the case with Minecraft, The Outer Worlds, Wasteland 3, and soon to be Psychonauts 2 and Death Loop. This will however mark the first time a Sony Developed game will appear on Xbox platforms.
MLB The Show 21 will launch on April 20th, and will support cross-play between all platforms, allowing the players to interact with one another easier and play together. MLB the Show 21 is currently available for pre-purchase and pre-download on Xbox Platforms as of writing.
